Oligodendrocyte is one of the original founding teams in EKL, owned and operated by Anthony DiGiorgio. The team is one of the six original teams to remain under original ownership and team name since the inaugural season. Oligodendrocyte has won two titles, one of only two franchises to win multiple titles in EKL history. The franchise currently operates out of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Oligodendrocyte was originally formed in Santa Barbara, CA, before the formation of EKL. The franchise competed in a number of non-franchise fantasy leagues and did not achieve much notoriety. However, the team was located in Sacramento, CA when the formation of EKL occurred, holding it's inaugural EKL draft in that very city.
The franchise spent the early part of it's history in a variety of locations. The 2008 season was split between Sausalito, CA and Novato, CA. The team remained in Novato, CA until the 2012 season, when it moved to New Orleans, LA. It has remained in the Big Easy ever since.
